Virgin Atlantic
travel classes

Virgin Atlantic currently offer three main cabin classes that cover all budget ranges. While Economy may be your default choice, if you’re looking for a more luxurious and comfortable experience, is it worth paying extra? Have a look through our guide and see what you think at the end. (Spoiler alert: It’s totally worth it!)

Economy

Virgin Atlantic Economy Seats

Free Wi-Fi, TV and films, in-seat charging outlets and goodie bags for kids are all offered with any Economy booking. Within Virgin Atlantic’s Economy class, there are three different levels that you can choose from.

Economy Light
Economy Light gives you 10kg of hand luggage, 23kg checked bag and your seat is assigned to you at check-in.
Economy Classic
This option might not be available on all flights so you might find that just Economy Classic is the standard. Economy Classic gives you an extra 23kg checked bag, as well as the option to choose your seat.
Economy Delight
The top end of this class is Economy Delight. In addition to the previous services, this option offers priority boarding, premium check-in and a seat pitch of up to 34 inches.
In addition, the standard dining experience consists of the following: A drinks service prior to dinner, the choice between two hot meals (this caters to vegetarians too), pudding, cheese and biscuits and high tea or breakfast later on.

Premium

Premium offers a large leather seat that you can select at any time, which has a pitch of 38 inches. Along with the extra legroom, you can skip the check-in queues, have an extra 23 kg checked bag and receive a bag of essentials with any nighttime flight.

Food and drink
A glass of bubbly on arrival, antipasto, a choice of three main meals (one of which caters to vegetarians), red or white wine, pudding, a Wander Wall (or snack wall) that you can help yourself to and high tea or breakfast later on.
Why upgrade to Premium on Virgin Atlantic?
Premium is, without a doubt, a big step up compared to the Economy cabin in terms of luxury and comfort. It allows passengers to streamline their experience, not worry about fitting everything into one bag and enjoy a real treat when it comes to food and drink. For those who enjoy the finer things in life and hope to be wined and dined, but don’t want to splash out on Upper Class tickets, Premium is your perfect middle-ground.
Does upgrading to Premium cost a lot?
Depending on the flight you choose, you may find that the cost of an upgrade is surprisingly cheap considering all the extra value you'll get once onboard.

Upper Class

Virgin Atlantic's new Upper Class Suite on the A330NEO

The biggest upgrade you can make would be to choose the Upper Class cabin. Here you’ll enjoy a fully flat bed, an extra large leather seat, two pieces of hand luggage up to 16kg and two checked bags up to 32 kg. With this option, you also have a fast-tracked security experience, priority boarding and Upper Class check-in, making the whole process smooth and as convenient as possible for the best start to your holiday.

Socialise at 40,000 feet
Another perk of this class is that the pods offer privacy, but if you’re feeling social, you can always head to the Loft to watch films, shows and documentaries on the 32-inch TV, grab a coffee or even have a business meeting. The Booth is also available on selected Airbus A350 aircraft, which is designed for two to indulge in some wine-tasting or a romantic evening meal together.
The best food and drink
Chilled champagne or English sparkling wine upon arrival, an apéritif, a four-course à la carte menu, a cheese course served with port, a choice of specially selected wines, self-service snacks from the bar, a choice of extra bites and hot and cold breakfast options for nighttime flights.
Luxury comes as standard
This option offers a range of luxurious touches that put your comfort as the top priority. It essentially guarantees a stress-free experience where you can relax completely in peace. You have the freedom to choose whether to simply sit back and enjoy the flight on your own, or enjoy social spaces for networking and leisure. You’re paying for extra privacy, exclusivity, convenience, delectable dining and so much more. The staff aim to cater to your every need and make your flight as special as possible. The sky is the limit with Upper Class!
